My husband and I stayed in the cottage for two weeks in July 2008. The weather was unseasonably cold and wet; it was like autumn. We found the open fire to be particularly comforting during our two weeks. The cottage is very comfortable and we found it was like a home away from home. We spent a lot of time along The Speyside Way photographing the wildlife. The village of Aberlour is really quaint, and very welcoming. The pubs and restaurants cater for all tastes and budgets. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and this location.

Our family of four stayed in the cottage during the May half-term. We'd heard about it from friends of ours and made a booking on their recommendation. It was every bit as good as they said it would be. The master bedroom has en-suite shower room and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. The second bedroom was ideal for the children as it has twin beds and there are safety bars on the outside windows which we found really comforting having two small children (it meant I could leave the windows open and not worry the kids would fall out!). For me, the washing machine was a godsend and made a difference to how much I had to pack. The house is really comfortable and it has plenty of home comforts. We ate at home most nights because of the children, but the village Co-Op is well stocked and not over priced and there is a big Asda in Elgin, about a 20 minute drive away.

I got this place as a last minute break for me and my 10 yr old and I wanted a 2 bed so we had a bedroom each. Wasn't sure about the location before we got there but it's great. It can be quiet but it was nice to get away and relax. We would drive to the beach every day as it isn't that far. We also went to Lossiemouth where they have the American air base, my son thought it was great watching the planes. The beach is nice there but windy. Great house in a good central location at a really good price. I think it would be good if you used it as a base to tour around that area.

We stayed here with some friends. We didn't know much about the village other than it has a distillery and is on the malt whisky trail. We are real foodies and appreciate the finer things in life. The Spey Larder deli in the High Street is to die for. We got a lot of our food there and prepared feasts in the kitchen at the cottage. We couldn't believe a kitchen this great is in a holiday rental... and it has a dishwasher! The cottage is really clean, there's nothing tatty in there. It's not modern with laminate floors and chocolate leather sofas like a lot of places are nowadays but traditionally furnished and it has an open fireplace. It has real charm and character and is in keeping with the village. We had no problems checking in or out; the key is left in the key safe. Sensibly priced. We will holiday there again, and we will recommend it to our friends.
